Christy Moore was born on May 7, 1945 in Newbridge, County Kildare (Ireland), an industrial city known for its ropes and knives. The family lived in a former British army officer in Moorfield.
In the 50 his father opened a grocery store in town. Christy has vivid memories of the work he did in the shop after school hours.
The passion he felt his mother for music, I caught a very young, learning piano and active part in his school choir, becoming the first voice. His early influences came from Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry and Little Richard, and also in Gigli, John McCormack, Bobby Rogers, Bill Haley and Chuck Berry.
